Agriculture executive Jai Shroff is the global CEO of UPL Limited, an agricultural technology developer with operations in more than 120 countries worldwide. Recognized as one of the fastest-growing agri-input companies in areas such as post- harvest food preservation, crop protection, seeds, and plant nutrition, UPL focuses primarily on strengthening its clients’ food security initiatives. Under the leadership of Jai Shroff, UPL has grown from a domestic business based in India to a true multinational organization. Operating nearly 30 manufacturing plants in North America, Latin America, Europe, India, and elsewhere in Asia, the company employs a workforce with more than 25 nationalities represented.
Jai Shroff first joined UPL Limited at the age of 22, at which time he met with investors and contributed to the IPO of the company. During his early years with UPL, he learned the fundamentals of crop protection, as well as other agricultural fields such as environmental services and seed production. Over the last two decades, UPL has completed more than 40 acquisitions, cementing its status as one of the most successful agrochemical businesses in India. Looking forward, Jai Shroff hopes to continue to grow UPL into a premier services provider for the global farming industry.
A longtime believer in cross-sector partnerships, Jai Shroff has entered into strategic collaborations with organizations such as the World Economic Forum’s Grow Asia and Grow Africa initiatives. He also is actively involved with the International Food Policy Research Institute’s Sustainable Agriculture and Global Food Security Initiative, as well as the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
